CULT TECHNIQUE: THE CULT APPROACH TO HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights remain one of the most requested services in the salon, yet the way we approach them today looks very different from even a few years ago.

At CULt, highlights are less about creating contrast and more about creating dimension. The goal isn’t to see where the colour starts and ends, but to create movement, depth and light that feel naturally part of the hair.

Every appointment begins with a conversation. Before discussing colour formulas or techniques, we consider the individual sitting in the chair - their natural base, lifestyle and how they want their hair to feel day to day. The aim is never to recreate a reference image exactly, but to translate an idea into something personal.

Where light sits within the hair is just as important as the amount of lightness itself. Rather than applying highlights uniformly throughout, we work with the haircut, natural movement and facial features to create a result that feels balanced, effortless and completely individual.

Achieving this often means combining multiple techniques. Fine highlights, soft balayage and delicate tip-outs may all be used within the same service, allowing brightness and dimension to be built gradually and with precision.

Beautiful colour shouldn’t only look good when you leave the salon. A softer root and seamless blend allow highlights to evolve naturally, maintaining their shape and character long after the appointment.

The most successful highlights are often the ones that don’t immediately announce themselves. They simply make the hair look brighter, healthier and more dimensional - effortless in appearance, but considered in every detail.
